Some students are not ready for college classes after high school. Learning disabilities, laziness or bad study habits are problems. Reading and math are critical.

  • @vicewoman I am glad to hear things are different now. There just wasn't any help available when I was young in the 1960s and 1970s. I feel that reading specialist telling me to give up was unprofessional on her part.If I had gone to the adult literacy council they would have never talked to me that way. In my 20s I got my GED when everyone told me I was wasting my time.

  • @doulasc You should go back now. Now, they have different views about education. 1- No one can deny you an education now. 2- I teach remedial reading, I know! 3. Colleges now have systems of disability accomodations so long as those accomodations are reasonable.

  • The problem is that, the public school system lacks or denies any individuality needed to understand lessions and retain that information when needed.

  • @ramrunsfast

    You are right.

  • So instead of complaining you should prove them wrong nowadays.

  • I had a learning disability and took remedial classes at a community college in 1979 and

the reading specialist told me since I have a

LD is to give up and drop out and I have no right

to an education. The college told me she was right and withdraw and never come back.

    I am telling the truth.
