(YAY MORE! ^^)
Details:
No one can deny that through the years, Alvin and The Chipmunks had recorded and learned from just about every big name in rock history, but none could have had a bigger impact on them than "The Fab Four" The Beatles.
"John and Paul were great friends of ours" Says Alvin, The self-proclaimed leader of the group. "When We first broke into the music scene, it was durring the hight of Beatlemania, so (Laughs) it was unavoidable, really...Actually, many people don't know this, But We were actually invited to go with Them to india. And We REALLY wanted to go, I mean, We BEGGED to go! But Dave, our producer, said We were too booked up to make it."
Regaurdless, Alvin in particuler stayed close to John throughout the mid-to-late 60's untill they broke up, And continued his friendship with him durring the 70's, visiting him often.
John once spoke of Alvin, saying:
"He reminds Me of Me, when I was younger...He has alot of talant, y'know? It's been great getting to know 'em over the years, and I think They (The Chipmunks) have alot of heart."
Alvin is even rumored to be a very early member of John's "Plastic Ono Supergroup" with Eric Clapton and George Harrison before leaving due to work constraints with The other Chipmunks.
"It would've been awesome to play with John, Eric AND George...But I couldn't just ditch Simon and Theodoor, No way. Not after all We've been through."
Alvin and The others remained close friends with John behind the scenes. even all the way up untill his tragic death on December 8th. 1980. Alvin describes the night as if it were yesterday...
"It was so sudden..We had just visited John that evening in the studio--I SAW Mark David Chapman outside the window....I.....I told John, I said he looked derranged and He agreed with me, but He said "Meh! He's got his autograph, Maybe that'll calm him down".....So, We watched him record, which was great...he had this smile on his face when we left..we walked with him down the elevator and out of the studio..and as we walked home we saw The Dakota building across the street--and at the corner of my eye I saw Chapmann, waiting there just as John came closer... I saw he was carrying a gun, so I shouted "HEY!!" and ran closer...then I heard and saw the most awfull thing in my life-- "Mr. Lennon?" --"BANG!!!".....I got there too late...Just in time to see him stagger into the entrace way and collapse...It was absolutly frightening..Yoko was crying, John was white and shaking...I tried to do SOMETHING, ANYTHING--but I was frozen in shock, 'couldn't move--what I SHOULD'VE done was strangle The life outa' that coward!!! THAT---AAAAHHH!!!! but by the time I could think clearly, The police took 'em and provented me from laying a hand on him...so I rushed to John and--watched them carry him in the ambulance..I stayed with him, though...he kept grasping my hand, and I could hear him vaugly utter "I'm not gonna make it, 'Al...Tell Julian, Yoko, Sean, Paul...Tell them I---Iove them..."....And....I-if i'd've known thoe would be his last words spoken to me..i'dv'e never even left that ambulance...I wish...i wish it were me!!!"
Alvin was unable to continue the interview untill a later date.
"...He was my best friend in the entire music industry...and I think, next to Paul..I was his, too..."
Alvin Now makes it a point to do a tribute to him EVERY year on the date of the murder. He and Theodoor can be seen at The Dakota most all that day visiting Yoko and playing songs in his memory...Alvin also frequently states his desire for Mark Chapman to STAY in jail for the rest of his life WITHOUT paroll.
"I Hope, for His sake, He stays there forever. Because if I EVER hear he's let out, You can bet He won't last a week on his own...and for John's sake, I'd rather not have that if it can be avoided."
Presented here is a recording Alvin did in 1981, The next year, of "Don't Let Me Down" A Lennon classic.
"Looking back at this one, I wish I'd've let Simon Sing it with me instead of Theodoor. Simon REALLY wanted to do this one, He loved it, But...Theodoor did it at the request of Paul, because he thought he did his part justice. ah well, sorry, Simon! ^^*"
The clip features Alvin on lead and theodoor on vocals..Alvin plays the lead guitar. and Theodoor plays drums and rythem guitar (recorded and mixed seperatly) The same being for Simon's bass and piano.
"We had fun doing this one, Theodoor even nails the "Whooooo!" You gotta have the "Whoooooo!!" for Paul, or you arn't Paul at all!" Simon said. "Alvin almost souded like Little Richard! Hehehe!"
Enjoy.

The Chipmunks doing a Beatles song is cool. The Description, however, is disrespectful, hurtful and rude. You really need to remove the Lennon death witnessed by Alvin...not funny.
