Shirley Verrett was a fabulous opera singer. Her mezzo repertoire and soprano repertoire were amazing. I love her Hall Aria from Tannhauser. Her Dialogues of the Carmelites was exquisite. Thank you for sharing this. I adore Verrett

For opera: Where and when was the Verdi Requiem please?

The Wagner nearly killed me! I had no idea she could sing this so well! Brava. The rest of it was great also. Wow. What an artist! Such versatility!

I love Verrett.
Thanks so much for this Verrett selection. I adore this woman and her magnificent voice. I particularly liked her Tannhäuser aria. Could you please tell me what recording is this from?

I don't really know from where and when is this Tannhäuser aria from. Some one told me it is from a concert performance in Chicago in the early 70s, without more details...

You have to tell me what recording you have of Madame Verrett singing Norma. That "trema per te, fellon" is worth the price of the entire opera!

The Boston Norma from 1976, just under in my other posts. It's a rarity.
