How come everybody is always ragging on falsetto-users?
It just comes across like bitterness.
I didn't like his song at all. Not because he's a counter-tenor, or uses falsetto, but because excessive vibrato is not attractive to my ears!

is he using falsetto?

Es un sopranista. Yo lo llamo un soprano masculino porque la mayoría de la gente no saben las palabras "contratenor" o "sopranista".

Well, for judges of a musical contest, this bunch is rather uneducated. Never heard of a countertenor? Good night.

Either that or they didn't want the audience to know they were aware of them ( for appearing as naturally surprised as they were ). Nontheless, they recognized his talent and potential and I am very glad they did so.
I really think he could become quite a singer. Right now his sound is a little covered and he has issues with enunciation, but I believe he could work that out with a professional.
The qualities of his voice are power, range, absence of scooping.
