Frank Oppenheimer, founder of the Exploratorium, tells of the history and thought that went into the creation of the Exploratorium. Produced by Thorne Films in early 1972.

Dr. Frank Oppenheimer, opened the doors of the museum in 1969 without fanfare with only a handful of exhibits and a $50,000 grant from the San Francisco Foundation. We're now celebrating 40 years, during which the museum has grown enormously, adding groundbreaking exhibits, events, web pages, publications, education programs, and much more.
