Maybe he had a time limit? TV time isn't limitless...so you can blame him for squeezing them all in the alloted time. He's still one of the all-time greats!

@robertny he was good, but there's always someone better!

@david245 I think it was a function of the time - I think that they were instructed a lot back then of what they should, could & shouldn't do...I remember meeting Andy Upton ['stop in the name of love'] & he said that he was not allowed to do it his way, it had to be restricted movements, etc. I would expect that the pace & time on the tube was probably the same...I would love 2 have slowed his songs down, how SEXY he would have sang [sung?] &delivered them..What a tragedy he left us soon..

Gone too soon.

He so amazing his voice is my motivation in life this heavy teen years are like climbing the hard mountains of the alps but Pitneys voice always gives me a boost and a good motivate in life
I loved his songs but this performance makes it seem as though he's rushing through them and can't wait to get off the stage. He gives them no emotion, unlike the originals.

I recorded this clip years ago, and always felt there was something ''wrong'' with the performance ..................... but could never quite put my finger on it. However, you comment above sums it up perfectly, because the performance is indeed lacking the emotion he's capable of.
Perhaps he just had a bad day. Goodness knows, we are all entitled to them now and again.
