  • Well, I am surprized that adventurers are still recording on wax cylinders ! I HAD fantasized about musuems that give visitors the option of doing just that, BUT ... Acoustic recording is lo-fi compared to the stereo labs we had 2 gen. later. Also the playing surface was full of scratch.

  • You should also search on You tube for Steve Caddick we recorded some music on an Edison machine a few years back. Also search Dave Marty Banjo on you tube you will find a video of him and Dave Frey recording on an Edison Machine as well. Finally we will be offering Edison Recording Sessions at the 2011 Boston Summer Banjo Bash June 2-4 look us up on Facebook!

  • truly amazing!!!!!

  • very nice i have done a recording of my school band they played manhatten beach march but they didnt have a f horn player im the only one and i wads recording lol it turned out very nice made about 20 copies and sold them to the museum and i kept 5 and gave 2 to the band teacher and 1 to a teacher who has a edison standard

  • The band should have played something like "stairway to heaven", or "hit me with your best shot'. That would be fun to hear played back from a wax cylinder.

  • Pretty good! I hear some flutter in the sound but otherwise good.

  • It would be cool to hear the entire song both ways: from the micropohones and from the horn.

    Can you guys do that?

  • Sounds very good. brass bands record well fine with belled horns, The 36" horn you used is very good, I use a 56" horn, exactly like the one you see the Edison Concert band sesson photo.
