A great album I found out about through an issue of Wax Poetics by multi-instrumentalist Rahsaan Roland Kirk. Goes through all the motions, from swing to blues to borderline psychedelic. This is one of my favorite tunes from the album, sax is incredible.

"Freaks for the Festival" or "Portrait of Those Beautiful Ladies" would be awesome.

Kinda funny, I listened to "Portrait.." for almost twenty years before I realized it's the exact same chord progression as "God Bless The Child"---very sneaky, heh heh

You can hear Billie Holiday in the background throughout the album, of course---but I didn't put it all together until later.

@ElectricityBlues This is the first time I've heard this song and liked it. So thank you ElectricityBlues, and thank you Rahsaan Roland Kirk for getting me to enjoy "The Entertainer" after not liking it for my whole life! I'll be learning this chord progression so I can whip it out at my next band rehearsal.
