Passiflora Incarnata (maypop, mayapple, apricot vine) is a relative of the tropical passionfruit that grows wild on the east coast of the US. I have been cultivating it as a hobby for the flowers and the tasty, exotic looking fruit. I'll do more videos as it grows apace.

More here:

Also, twin spinster quinsters, an amarillis (? not sure) and a horse's ass.

(I am still waiting for permission to post my remaining videos from my Nebraska trip. Also I have been refurbishing the house, but I hope to get back to posting videos soon.)

  • Nice video! I have a southern MO strain. It should be fully hardy here. Some very mulched P. caerulea may survive sometimes, but incarnata is the best for temperate climates. Do you like palms? Your location is good enough for Sabal minor (maybe native near you?), Rhapidophyllum hystrix, Trachycarpus fortunei. Waiting for other videos, fruit development etc.! Otherwise, next year I'll put mine :-)!

  • P. caerulea grows in MO? Cna you grow P. Edulis too?

  • I have a purple passion flower vine. and i tried to breed it but no matter what i do they never grow roots!

    plz help!

  • well the wild version here propagates by the roots, some shoots come up many yards away. The soil here is acidic, maybe that's one reason.

  • hi, great vid... how did you originally get those passies to grow??

  • they grow wild here, pretty easy to get them going

  • They have taken over my back yard.

  • You can get seeds at horizonherbs

  • Beautiful flowers of passion. How to get seeds of these flowers??

  • THIS IS AMARYLLIS. Generally they are red or pure white in colour.

  • do they prefer acidic soil? Does oak, maple and pine make up a good habitat for them?

    Full sun of course.

  • With some passifloras you can burry part of a branch (leaving the tip out), after a few weeks it will grow its own roots and you can cut the branch.

  • Search "easywildflowers" and you will find a MO company selling seeds/plants- check the P.incarnata and see distribution map. Edulis is tropical and I don't mess with plants unable to overwinter in Romania.
