The pilot(s) of any aircraft will reject a takeoff if there's any kind of problem during the takeoff roll that makes takeoff unwise, provided that the aircraft hasn't reached a speed and position that prevents it from coming to a complete stop on the runway. Brakes are always used to stop the aircraft in this case, but spoilers and reverse thrust can be used, too, in some cases. None of this is unique to the A330.

@butlerproman I've seen them do so at cliffs actually! One basically pulled off a perfect 'hover' take-off against the wind.
