Albatross - studio version

Albatross. (Fleetwood Mac). One of the greatest instrumental tracks of all time. A beautiful, haunting and thought invoking piece of music. I recorded this on December 8th 2004, just two days after my mum passed away. This was her favourite piece of music, and I recall she used to play the 7" single on the record player with the arm up so that it would play over and over. Whatever band I was in I would always make sure we played this whenever my mum came to watch us. This is the exact recording that was played at my mum's funeral service. I deeply regret one thing about this tune - I never managed to record this for my mum (she asked me often) until it was too late. I am posting this today in rememberance of my mum, I miss her dearly. Please take time to do those little things for your loved ones - they are often the things that mean the most to them.

Thank you. I don't have a soundcloud account and I am a little reluctant to post this anywhere else as I did not write the music. There are many free software items out there that allow you to capture the audio from this recording, and obviously I have no objection if you wish to do that. :)

Hi everyone, thank you for all the wonderful comments and for making this the 2nd most listened to version of Albatross in the world. (on YouTube anyway).

This tune is so very special to me, and when I recorded this - my version - it was solely for my Mum, and in no way did I wish to take anything away from the incredible original by Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac.

I have never heard this song before but does anyone else think that King Crimson's "Walking On Air" (1995) bears a striking resemblance to this?

What a touching piece tale to accompany this beautiful piece of music. My wife and I were both big Fleetwood Mac fans but she never shared my liking for this track, I could never understand why?!

When she died suddenly I played a lot of music and this tune always makes me fill up because she would say "What are you playing this for!"

I just love it and have now got the Peter Green anthology which is a super set of CDs.
