"The United States has only one choice in dealing with North Korea, even after its deadly artillery attack on a South Korean island," writes Tim Shorrock, an investigative journalist who has covered Korea for more than 30 years. "Negotiate directly with its government, forge an agreement to end Pyongyang's nuclear weapons program, and move towards a peace agreement to formally end the Korean War." On Wednesday, South Korea found the bodies of two civilians killed in the North Korean attack. The bombardment also killed two South Korean soldiers, wounded 18 others and set dozens of homes ablaze. Democracy Now! interviews Tim Shorrock on November 24.
Talking with the North won't do anything when you dealing with a lunatic. We've been trying to work with the North for over 50 years.

@cr9527 having the exercises so close to the border is just outright stupid. Also I agree fully with TIm and former SK president. Closing open discussion is the worst route to deal with this problem. Don't get me wrong, I'm fully on SK's side in this matter, but still, firing live rounds in such a tense situation and zone is just ridiculous.

@Gonzaloelmobley
South had full rights to conduct those drills, North was threatening South. If South doesn't stand up to it and backs off, it would send a message to the North that they can push South around.
