http://www.heartratewatchcompany.com/heart-rate-monitors-p/suunto-vector.htm The Suunto Vector is made for outdoor adventure. A Barometer forecasts the weather, a compass gives you direction, and an altimeter measures altitude gained and lost which is great for skiers and mountaineers. It also has a heart rate monitor and tracks calories. It's a great looking watch on the summit or in the office.

  • Hi please could you answer a couple of questions I have about the Suunto Vector.

In the Altimeter mode my watch keeps on showing different altitudes to the one I have set initially for my home. Is the device faulty and unreliable? The second question is how can I change the unit of measurement to feet rather than meters?

    Hope you can help, thanks.

  • @VeronicasMidget The owner's manual has a pretty good explanation of how to change the settings.

As far as accuracy goes you should re-set your barometer and altimeter to a know point of altitude daily. Why? Quite simply, because the barometer is always changing. You can get local barometric pressure on the internet or even weather.com

  • Is that watch waterproof?

and the compass, do it get all f*cked up if it comes in a magnet field or something like that?

  • @Petegrin1 I actually wear one of these watches myself. It measures altitude, direction and has a barometer as well. It is water resistant - I swim with it but probably wouldn't dive with it. It's great for mountain climbing, skiing and lots of outdoor sports where weather and direction finding are a factor. The compass actually has a leveling bubble and is accurate.

I haven't tested it in a magnet field but I can only imagine that the compass could get disoriented in areas of high magnetism.
