This sounds every bit the original, or at least the version i remember. The video is simple enough and yet holds my interest...it's been some time since i've seen that poster of uncle sam. As far as the all american boy back when, i quess elvis is as good a choice as any, especially when you think of those lyrics "and the money just kept on pouring in..uncle one day my uncle sam said...." otherwise who. Thanks again, the original recording you posted is greatly appreciated!

One of the best songs from that great year 1959! My buddy and I still know all the words and sang it in front of our classmates 17 years ago at our 35th class reunion!

@perfectstrangr0 uh uh this is bobby bare. bill parsons only lypsynched the song while on tour. his name got put on the record by mistake
-
@rocknrollroy2007 i think there were some royalty cheques too.

The only thing this song is missing is a shot of whiskey to go with it.

Bobby hit #2 in Billboard, 2-2-59. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a great week!

Bobby Bare wrote and recorded "All American Boy" before going into the US Army. Fraternity Records released the record, with Bill Parsons' name on it by mistake. Bill Parsons would tour and lip-sync to the record while on stage. When Bobby heard about this, he told Bill that he could tour and promote the record and that he had no hard feelings towards Bill. Bobby did receive a check for $50 for his recording.

@beagle5pup Yeah we cranked up the juke box at our local sode shop. made the windows rattle! :-)

Forget all you've heard. THIS IS THE VERSION, AND SINGER; Bobby Bare, who
rode it around the top of the charts. The Bill Parsons version is just that, ANOTHER VERSION.

Bobby Bare sang this song. The record Co.put Bill Parsons name on the record by mistake. It was not about Elvis Bobby said it was about him(Bobby Bare) going in the service.
controversy about this song ?? why ? This is way on the mild side !

I think it was more about who took credit for singing it. Thanks for your comment.
