  • Hi there, Battle has an short 'a' sound like in 'at' and bottle a long 'o' like in 'long'. Does this help?

  • @ezboy777 America is indeed the only one who still persists with the regional variation of Z. Other variations included Izzard, Ozzard, Zard, Zayd and a few others (these were stamped out in the 18th and 19th century). Zed is the correct pronunciation of the letter.

  • I was watching the Vancouver Olympics opening ceremony and I learned that Canadians pronounce the letter "Z", zed or zet! Is that true? Is America the only country that pronounces the letter "Z" zee?
