I had a broken portable DVD player and I decided to open it since I had nothing to loose. It turned out the the laser and/or motor(s) was/were broken but the screen is still working with an external video source.
Note: the still image at the end is a mistake while exporting the video.

i used to have one like that. one day i decided to test it to see if it would work sense i have not used it in a long time. it decided to have a meltdown and smoke so i unplugged it and chucked it across the room for fun

I have an IINITIAL IDM-1731 with the Supreming RF251 N2 43 10 09 motor which is identical to that one, where can I get that transport module or spindle motor? Mine is alive, but simply won't spin up long and fast enough and keep spinning to load the disk, the optical module and laser seem to be working and the carriage moves in to focus etc.

O my god. Why would you do that? if it doesn't work, the least you can do is to sell it on eBay and lie that it does work so people can buy it lol
