I came here a couple years after they closed this, but the lagoon was still there. I never got to ride it, but this still makes me sad.

IN 1973 I WENT TO DISNEY WORLD AT THE AGE OF 7. RODE ALL THE RIDES AND THIS WAS THE BEST......I STILL TODAY CAN REMEMBER THE GIANT SQUID. I DREW PICTURES IN SCHOOL MADE MAPS OF THE LAGOON. WELL DISNEY LET ALL THAT GO TO HECK. JUST AS THE DISNEY CHANNEL. IT SUCKS NOTHING MAGIC NOW. WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR YOU SHOULD KEEPS THINGS AS THEY ARE..NOT CHANGE THEM. THIS RIDE WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! WHATS NEXT JUSTIN BEVERHEAD WILL BE ELVIS? THINK NOT !!!!!

very exciting ride, went on firs when 8 years every year after that, very sad they close this. disney why

@bigdaddy496 If it was gay it would have been awesome. It must be straight in comparison.

I only went on this once when I was little but I remember it so well. It was the most incredible ride at Disney. My husband and I went on our honeymoon there in 2002 and i couldn't wait to find it! Little did I know they got rid of it :( A worker there did tell me it was because the upkeep was too expensive :/ !!! I was so disappointed! :(

@SpookyAbductee They closed it because they couldn't be bothered funding it anymore, and then tried to come up with the "reasons" to tell the public

I can't believe they took this ride off, for what reason?? It was shut down for years with no explanation!!
-
This was THE ride!!!! oh the memories!

@MayorVaughn: I think Walt would be spinning in his grave if he knew what the Disney 'shirts' had done to this fantastic attraction. Shame on you, corporate Disney, shame on you!
So, you close down The Greatest Themepark Attraction Ever Made (TM), lie about its status for two years because you're too afraid to tell the truth, leave it sitting dormant for ten years, and then finally turn it into a f**king playground. Well done Disney.
It was sad to see kids playing on it obliviously when I was last there in 2007. If only they knew the hallowed ground they were on.

how sad to think disney replaced this grand attraction with some not only irrelevant, but completely gay in comparison
