Now, the Swedish parliament has branded the same killings as genocide as well, prompting Turkiye to recall its ambassador to Sweden in protest.
The Turkish government vehemently denies that up to one-and-a-half million Armenians died, and that it amounted to genocide.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned the genocide declaration in the Swedish Parliament.
He said We strongly condemn this resolution, which was clearly a political calculation.
It does not correspond to the close friendship of our two nations.
Erdogan also announced he is cancelling a summit between Turkiye and Sweden scheduled for March 17th.
He may also cancel an upcoming trip to the U-S, in protest over last week's genocide resolution in Congress.

It looks like Erdogan and his gov-t are not very competent when it comes to foreign policy issues. US Congress recently, then Swedes, then Catalonians in Spain, - all voicing their support and acceptance of the fact of Armenian Genocide, with Turks recalling their ambassadors -if the current trend continues, the Turks will get themselves into a full isolation. . .
