From a program called Celebration (Granada TV, UK) in August 1981. This featured the then-disbanded Fairport Convention reformed for the occasion - the Full House line-up plus Linda Thompson. For this track however, we have Dave Swarbrick, Richard Thompson and Dave Pegg together, performing an instrumental set from Swarb's current album Smiddyburn.

  • Incredible! Is there more footage from this session? Also, might you have any footage of Fairport between 1968-1975?

  • There's a few more songs from this session, and I'll put them up over time, but the quality is very low to put it politely! Re earlier stuff - never say never. :) Nothing pre-1974 though, I don't think.

  • Did Swarb ever take the fag out of his mouth?

  • Yes, when he got the emphysema some years later...

  • to be remember here:

the full house line-up had in it-

4 guitarists; 3 bass players; 3 mandolin players; at least 3 drummers; 2 (proper*) violin players; 2 (proper*) viola players; 3 dulcimer players; 2 piano/keyboard players; and 5 guys who sang. and only five guys in the band!

    * with apologies to Simon ;)

  • @LiteGauge Agree - he always kept his warmest smuggest grins for Peggy. It's lovely !

  • Beautiful - love the exprssion of Dave Swarbrick's face at about 1:50!

  • Sublime. I've loved these guys since 1973. Thanks for posting.

  • I thought that I had seen some still photos from this session of the three here plus Linda, Simon, and DM. Footage of pre-obituary Swarb in general is hard to find, so I'm happy to see anything in any quality!
