there is an entrance, but if you get withing two spaces a man (looks like a sage) says "tell me something you knuckleheads to split the rock" So I could never go in.

Furthermore- what does rescuing the princess do for you. I never bothered with the dark domain and never saw any need. Im shocked that there was anything in there.

Interesting. I don't know the answer though. I've played BTII the least out of the trilogy. The Dark Domain is good if you create new characters instead of transfering them in from BTI. Rescue her a few times for the experience and you'll be ready to move onto the Tombs.

You can download Bard's Tale I,II,& III at the "Adventurer's Guild". There are many different version but you will need to use an emulator to play the Bard's Tale games on XP. Use DOSBox for the DOS version, WinVice for the C-64 version, AppleWin for the AppleIIe version, etc.

@drfistface "freeze please" gets you into the 7th and final dungeon, The Destiny Stone. There, if you survive, you get the 7th and final segment of the destiny wand. Then

spoiler alert:

Give the segments to bard, go to The Temple of Narn and have the Bard approach the alter. the Destiny Wand is formed and he becomes the Destiny Knight. You can download the game on abondonia.

@justinhenryhaynes That sounds pretty cool. So if I tell that guy "freeze please" than he will let me pass? Then what? I haven't even tried that game in like ten years. Does he let me into a dungeon. I always assumed that that was the lagath zanta place but someone else showed how that was the sage the whole time-- How the hell did that happen? My guys were a billionth level and had trillions of gold (my dad was a dos hacker) but all we could do was wander around looking for... "freeze please"?

The Bard's Tale series from the 1980's had and still has a great RPG video game feel to it like no other. When I think of these three games, a smile comes to my face.

I played all three on the Commodore 64 and later on the Commodore Amiga. Part Three was my favorite as it was very long and detailed although all were good. Thanks for bringing back memories. I still play them from time to time on the Amiga emulator.
