  • OT. Is this the same Findhorn that was mentioned in the movie "My Dinner With Andre?"

  • Yes, that's correct. Andre Gregory came here in the late 70's, I believe, and he was quite inspired by what we do here. Of course things have changed a lot in the last 30 years, but the magic that he found is still fresh for many of the people that visit us each year. Incredible film, if one has the eyes to see it and the ears to hear it.

  • It is wonderful that Richard has so much confidence in humanbeings. Sometime ago back in 1981 I was admitted into hospital with Bipolar. i was totally worried of this peakoil and peak of all resources in the world. As Richard says many times the world needs to change it's reliance on the depleting resources. Will we survive this peakoil I honestly don't think we will. Humans are too selfish & greedy

  • I have experience that affirms that opinion, and I have experience that negates it. Human history is full of selfish actions, but also full of selfless acts, too. The way I see it, we have a choice in how we go forward into the new era and I believe that, in a low energy world, groups that work together will be more successful than individuals that go it alone. It's possible that darwinian evolution will favour the altruistic.

  • Please, I do think local, self-sufficient communities are much better for a happier, more human-scale life. When you push them with these kind of tactics it just turns most people off. Then you have someone sounding like they are from the Nazi party saying we need population control. Those people can decide for themselves how many kids they want but not for us. The poorest are having the most kids. Next will you call those that disagree sub-humans? Don't think yourself that much smarter!

  • @jckchrstphr - Yes, I saw the recent confirmation also. Odd it is taking so long for so many to see what is plain.I can understand why you thought peak was a conspiracy, after all the corp. spend a fortune to control information. That is one reason why I said we should be more "aware" of how we present the truth. There is alot of work to be done. No need to drive away people by adding on certain statements. Lets get people to understand peak and what the corps. have done, that will be work enough

  • @djgbroughton07 You should look for mental care urgently.

  • @bobbygnosis Start by killing yourself

  • Richard Heinbergs plan has already been tried extensively in an entire country in the 1970s, Cambodia under Pol Pot.

  • @VictorianGentlmn I started reading about "peak oil" on the NYTimes. A week ago, they reported that the IEA says we reached peak in 2007. Before that I assumed it was conspiracy.

  • One of the great things oil has made possible is dropping a great big stinking load on top of another great big stinking load that some other guy left unflushed. You know some poor bastard is going to have to unclog that toilet and you're just glad it's not you. So you throw your last wipe on top of the fetid turd you've left and dispatch one last fart, sigh and buckle up feeling like a new man. Thank God for gas station bathrooms!

  • I must visit Findhorn and experience the magic. What you are all doing is so beautiful and incredible. What an inspiration.

  • I wanted to see this for solutions but could not watch past part 1. I am for RC for a more self-sufficient, localized future. The scientist and politicians have all proved they lied about "climate change". There is no reasonable person who thinks "peak oil" will effect us for another 200 years. I don't want to argue. I am just saying most everyone I talk to NOW thinks these two ideas are a way for corp.{GE}, people{Gore} and gov't to take their money and get more power.

  • There is one other critical element to this over all problem....population levels/birth rates. In addition to all the problems with "Peak Everything"...we also simply have way too many people in the world. Cut population by half and the problems start to diminish. So, my recommendation is to limit yourself to ONE child. That's it. ONE. Get our population back to sustainable levels or we will drive ourselves to exctinction.
