  • Too bad they don't try this test with the foundation attached... we'd see failure. Seismic isolation is a far better solution.

  • Codes should be in effect for at least an 8.0 or bigger to prevent cockiness and death over California because they have that mentality of invincibility. We need one to wake California the hell up!

    OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Icklecal47 indeed. it was a scary quake. scientists should start looking at technology to break tsunamis...possibly by generating anti phase artificial waves against tsunami..or blasting incoming tsunami with heavy explosion to break the motion energy flow towards shore

  • this building was copied and the test a reply of a test made 4 months earlier in same laboratory on an italian patent:

    watch?v=W4q_ytmwyzY&NR=1&feature=fvwp

however also for more used anti-sysmic building materials we've recently seen the point is not the earthquake effects...

  • unfortunately japan was hit by a magnitude of 8.9 earthquake which was higher than these folks tested .. and im sorry to say it wasnt the quake that destroyed large swathes of the country but a tsunami which washed over everything in its wake ..

RIP to all those lives lost on march 11th 2011 ...

  • And now we hope that keeps houses better from earthquakes

  • Who let the lunatics out of the asylum?
