A Record of Advocacy

As a member of the Boca Raton House of Representatives, Boris Bastidas fought for equality on campus, working to reform FAUs Anti-Discrimination policy so that all groups on campus are acknowledged and protected. Boris worked with House members and with the Student Body President to ensure that the University is complying with state laws aimed at lowering textbook costs for students. Boris has also written Resolutions to give students a voice in FAUs efforts to have a say in local transportation projects, to improve and reform Student Government elections and has stood up for club funding and for bringing people together when conflict arises.

A Vision for Change

Boris views the office of Campus Governor not as a position of authority, but as a position of responsibility and empowerment. The Student Government programs on campus, like BSUMP, The Board, COSO and Night Owls are programs and services that are in many ways the backbone of SG sponsored student life on campus. Boris understands that the kind of leader needed is someone who will not just seek to manage these programs but who will bring people together and stand up for these programs and ensure they can do what they do best. In addition to overseeing these and other programs on campus, Boris will continue to provide a voice for students on campus to ensure that there is always someone looking out for you.
