I am more interested in the fact it takes 20 secs to boot up and you can use it as soon as the desktop appears, unlike on Windows. This useless eyecandy wouldn't convince me to try Ubuntu, but the ease of use and the speed would.

In many regards, Linux is a better choice than Windows. But if every "Linux is better than Windows" video on YouTube does nothing but show eye candy like this one, no Windows user is going to be interested in making the switch.
