HAHA "I mutilated my gauge cluster and poked some shit with a stick at your suggestion. THANKS CHUCK!!!"
What an idiot.

Dumb people here talking crap about a fix that worked for THAT guy. He was apparently just fine with that small hole being there. If it was me, personally, I would have made changes to the recommendation and simply removed the plastic covering the needle to that I wouldn't have a hole. Not the easiest thing in the world to do, but still perfectly doable. Then just use your finger to stop the needle and not have a hole.

There seem to be a lot of pissed-off people here! This is a recommended procedure But, It is recommended on GM vehicles that have the Odometer reset button, and you go through the 'Stem" ffor the reset with a paper clip and move the needle down! This guy will have to plug this hole or he will have a problem with dust/moisture intrusion into the IPC (Instrument panel cluster) 28 Year Master, L-1 Technician

hahah i took it out and shake the cluster back to 0 wen i had mine poiting at 120 lol

@sweetlikeADAM Yea, i wouldn't drill a hole in my cover that would just be damn right annoying.
-
o damn... i would beat someones ass if they did this to my car... straight up stupid...

This always happens on GMs. I've always fixed it by just replugging the battery, usually just once or twice fixes it.

Jack ass. Let me know were your shop is so I wont take my car there. A real tech would have told him to pop off the cluster cover and remove 4 7mm screws and pop off the cluster cover and reset it. So buddy he didnt fix it he rigged it

what a fucking tool the old man on the video is a lame ass mechanic, chucks is more retarded for taking the old mans advice i mean who the fuck does this shit ? just take the shit apart and move it with your finger and if your to lazy and stupid to do that then you dont deserve to drive or get near a car ....
Why didn't you just tell him to take out the cluster and move it by hand? Now he has a hole in his cluster cover...
