A flying saucer lands in the Texas Hill Country and a teenager, armed with a pistol, goes to take a look. (Hey, this IS Texas after all...) If you thought ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES! was bad, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

Produced when I was a sophomore in high school, this film's worldwide premiere was held in the back yard of my home on the evening of April 27, 1964. A white sheet hung from a clothesline served as a makeshift motion picture screen. Approximately forty friends and neighbors were in attendance along with my pet Beagle, Rebel. Everyone but Rebel seemed to enjoy the film.

For over 40 years this little cinematic effort was carelessly stored in a cardboard box in one garage after another, exposing the 8mm Kodak print to the ravages of heat and humidity -- hence the degraded color seen today.

Assisting in the making of THE HORROR OF APRIL 27TH were Mike Byrne and Tim Hufft. No contact information regarding these fine fellows will be divulged in the interest of their personal safety.

As for me, you can go to my website, www.needtovent.com, where you will find more than 100 film reviews that I have posted over the past two years. Additional reviews are added every week or two when the weather is not conducive to my taking to the air in my Cessna 172.

  • Thank you for the kind words. I was especially glad to read that your son enjoyed it also since he didn't grow up watching 1950-1960 sci-fi films.

Many thanks for the kind words. I've been to Rio twice and would love to return! Again, thank you for your comments...

  • This is a really good 50's style take on a UFO landing. Very creative for what it is. Of course it's not suppose to be real you idiots! The alien was kind of dumb but if you fix the stop motion up a bit, it would be a lot cooler. Try making a longer version! NEETO!!

  • @grindinglicks -- Thanks for the kind words!

  • I don't think that was an alien. Judging by its shape, I think it was a highly evolved creature from the future coming back to stop bad history from happening. Yes, that's right: it was The SPERMINATOR!

  • WAT THE HELL IS THAT, a giant sperm?
