  • To those who are saying that this weir is safe; you need to be more careful about what you post. A newbie could see your comment and decide that a local weir is 'safe' without weighing up the dangers. A weirs danger is relative to a persons individual skill and experiences. A playboater might feel at home sitting in a weir like this whereas a newbie in a displacement hull club boat would find this terrifying and will take a backward progression, not helping their comfort zone. See you out there.

  • @scvolpejr weirs are fine as long as weirs like this one have a 'weak' spot in them to escape. Alot of weirs here in the UK have been given 'weak' spots either by angling them in a way that will let swimmers and boats out or have had sections blown out of them again to make sure that there is a spot in which someone could escape.

  • very scary. seeing him in that for so long is terrifying.

  • It's a small weir with a stopper. He was fine and probably would have washed out if he swam.

  • @Kanukante2810 River Don, Sheffield, England - Doesn't look anything like that 99% of the time, only when it flooded majorly a couple of years back, this was a few days after the floods.

  • It looks like a fun stopper to me, I think I would quite happily get stuck in it on purpose

  • It's not a dam it's just a wier and a pretty low one at that. The guy that was guiding him out looked competent enough to go in and get him if anything went to bad. The guys filming would no doubt have throw bags. Plus it was a local river so they would have known if the stopper was a fully retentive or a major risk.

  • dumb asses

  • Where is it? I think Monschau, Germany

  • If you are going to run a dam, PADDLE , PADDLE, PADDLE,,FFS, DON'T STOP AS SOON AS YOU HIT THE FOAM.

But these, as every one else has said, are dangerous, but hats off to the leader for keeping him calm and talking to him..
