  • I think that it's already happened, and it's in the social realm. I strongly suggest you look there. It's called the abortion holocaust. The angry mob that supports it is present (i.e. pro-life groups at universities are being shut down left, right and centre). The victim is totally innocent. But instead of a deification, there's a depersonalization - it's backwards mythology in motion.

  • As you say, a sure sign of scapegoating is the dehumanization of the victim, which the scapegoater calls the enemy. I wonder if you are able to humanize the "angry mob" of pro-lifers?

  • I'm not sure if I understand your question. I was talking about the angry mob of anti-lifers. Pro-life people are calm and rational. Every time Im at a demonstration it's always the anti-life people who are screaming and yelling in our faces; and chanting clever but hollow quips and dancing etc. It's all emotion - because they're defending the undefendable (murdering babies).

In any case, I would remind you that Girard is pro-life and he's clearly the man whose ideas you accept wholeheartedly

  • My bad -- I meant the anti-lifers from your perspective. My concern, as is Girard's, is about what methods one uses to promote one's position. Demonization of the other by name calling or lumping individuals into an angry group are scapegoating methods. If the concern is to protect life, then the methods must be respectful of the humanity of others. You can accuse others of being angry and claim the mantle of rationality for yourself, but your opponents are doing the same thing.

  • Hello there,

I am very pleased by watching your video and seeing people who want to analyse the things in calmness. I have send you my video in German language, but within the next days I will send you the English version. Maybe you are interested in the German point-of views as well. My youtube channel-name is hautbaton, my name Nick Pfander.

  • Thank you for your comment. I look forward to hearing the German point of view.

  • I'm sorry but from my experience in studying abortion i can't see a rational explanation to reject abortion. i'm not saying that I would just kill babies arbitrarilly, but rationally I cannot see a problem with a mothers choice to have an abortion. What do you see as the rational basis that it is abhorent? I'm genuinely interested, that wasn't a rhetorical question.

  • he be allowed to? Would we not consider such an ignorant person a fool?

  • Im not denying the anti-baby community of personhood. I think that most of them are probably good people, who probably mean well -they've just been duped and have bought into a lie from Satan. But I will not award them with a positive-sounding title like "pro-choice" because I will not tolerate killing babies. Every abortion is a sacrifice to Satan, and the idea of respecting a view that supports killing children is absolutely absurd. If someone thought the Holocaust was a good thing, should

  • I can confidently claim the mantle of rationality in a heartbeat, because not the cleverest of arguments will ever be able to rationalize killing innocent, unborn babies. What I'm fighting is a kind of scapegoating. Collective violence against an innocent victim, which brings forth a feeling of relief for a few people for a short amount of time (an analogy would be the plague Appolonius got rid by means of stoning the most defenseless person available in the community.

  • undifferentiation*

  • "Actually, what the radicalization of contemporary victimology produces is a return to all sorts of pagan practices: abortion, euthanasia, sexual differentiation, Roman circus games galore but without real victims, etc."

-p.181, Girard, I See Satan Fall Like Lightning

Also, at the bottom of p.176 in the same book he makes it clear what side he's on.
