  • Uh . . . yes, true. I just took CPR training as well. In addition, if you have seen the news in the last 6 months, they have CHANGED recommendations for CPR for all but specific cases (such as drowning). There no longer is ANY breathing involved for most victims - just chest compressions. It's called "Hands Only CPR" and can be found on the Red Cross website under the "get trained" tab.

Tell your Red Cross trainer to get up to date! Breathing just postpones circulation and costs lives!

  • @asj0655 next: 30 on the chest between breasts. then look for breathing (movement from chest) if none, continue to two rescue breaths and then 30 compressions. if you grow tired, and there is an aed, and the patient has all metal objects removed (rings, piercings, underwire) and nitroglycerin patches removed you can deliver aed. if you automatically know it is a heart attack, yes you can first deliver 30 chest compressions before rescue breaths.

  • @asj0655 not true. just got redcross first aid certified. you first check the environment to see that you are in a place that is safe to deliver the treatment. then you check to see if they are conscious and what the injury is. then you call 911. then you check to see if they have a blocked air way and check pulse and check to see if there is any sign of breathing because it is not wise to administer to if they actually are breathing. if they aren't breathing, deliver two rescue breaths

  • 1) THIS IS OUTDATED!!! Current CPR techniques for an unconscious person are compression-only. No breathing, no airway clearing, no pulse checking. Call 911. Start compressions (100/min) for 2 minutes. Use AED ASAP if available.

    2) To defibrillate a patient, the ECG leads MUST be put on the skin - NOT on the clothing! This will cause arcing that will burn the patient and probably will not defibrillate them! You have to take their shirt off to place the defibrillator electrodes!!!

  • this relay helped, i have a test tomorrow and it will decides if i have a lifeguard job. it has been a while seance i was trained and the book dosnt help nearly as much as you.

  • I'm not a fireman or an EMT, but I'm just curious as I just completed my Medic One certification, 1. Isn't the shirt supposed to be taken off the victim? 2. I was taught to lock my arms and push down with my stomach and hips not my arms, as this is much more tiring and less effective. I'm not sure if it differs state to state; but I believe there is room for improvement in this video.

  • @bakyo07 You don't give shocks to someone with their shirt on. The person really isn't in cardiac arrest. The patch isn't even in the right spot. But techniqually you take the victims shirt off for skin contact

  • hold on..on 1:37..are you sure you can deliver it on someone with a clothing?

  • If you'd like a free AED, look up American Med Supply on YouTube. We are giving one away. Plus we are giving away a bunch of other cool gifts and prizes. No purchase required or anything like that.

  • thanks guys and i mean the mokeyseepeople
