wow, so thats what its called. i've been doing that for a while now and never knew there was a name for it.
-
say i do Parallel Processing on each single element of a drum track, like kick, snare, possibly hats, rimshots, etc..
Then i send all these to a drums bus, and then Parallel Process the drum bus as well? or is this too much?
I make electronic music, so drums have got to sound huge. i normally use this technique, but only on the drum bus.

nice little tip might give this ago.....

alot of hard work to mix down to a normalized generic sounding mp3 track

Parallel compression is awesome in helping get those larger than life sounds come out. I'm so glad I picked this technique up a while back.

Chris is right. I use this technique to help bring things more upfront on mixes and solve other issues. One of the best uses was when I was trying to pull more flute out of a mic that picked up multiple instruments. I just did this with a para-eq, dialed it in, and voila!

1 extreme track + 1 un-edited track = the sound of that. if u want it to sound tasteful, the equation is 1 track + tasteful processing...

@PattyWhomperOFFICIAL sometimes you need a little more control on the track than just running it through a send, there's no right or wrong way to do it, though. It's all about what you like to do
