North Korean refugee women living in China sometimes marry (sometimes against their will)Chinese men. Later, if the woman is caught by Chinese police and forcibly sent back to North Korea, her husband sometimes abandons any children they may have had together or he simply may be unable to care for them. No one knows for sure, but there may be 10,000 or more such children.
