  • I'm very interested in Bart's fight against ken shamrock-can anyone post that video-I would like to see it from beginning to end. Thanks

  • I will see if I can find it and put it up

  • I used to follow Martial Arts quite heavily in the 1980s. I have never heard of this guy. In fact, when I started learning about MMA via the UFC, several years ago I never heard of him. To put it bluntly what popular where was he for UFC 1-10? What top MMA organizations has any of his students been a contender for the Championship for?

  • The mixed martial arts (MMA) popular phenomenon began in 1993 with the Ultimate Fighting Championship; Gracie originally was a partial owner and promoter. He designed it with minimal rules in place, in an attempt to determine which system would be more effective in a real, unregulated, combat situation. But, because of lawsuit, violence advocacy groups, and others he ended up loosing money so he sold the rights.

  • That brief clip where Bart KOs Ken Shamrock looks like a work.

  • Very simple...it's a work.

And I say this as someone who trained with Bart for over a year and thinks he is one of the toughest, nicest guys I've ever met.

What you need to understand is the difference between an American WWF "bout" and a Japanese "work".

There, the outcome is indeed predetermined. Despite this, the Japanese prefer extreme realism. As such, all of the moves are realistic and are done realistically. Those worked punches, kicks, etc. DO hurt, though the result is planned.

  • highlights can make anyone look good. i want to see some of his full fights

  • en full contct no ay cinturones capuyo lo sabre yo k stoy en full contact

  • All of Vale's shootfighting matches were works, or semi-works (contact allowed, but lots of moves for show, and a pre-determined outcome) which were very popular in Japan then. But he was involved in maybe the most brutal MMA fight ever, with Mike Bitonio.

I can see why they put him in the hall of fame, if you consider when he fought. MMA was just starting about the time he retired. I think if Vale were 25 years old today, he'd be an absolute force in MMA.

  • Vale poked Shamrock's eyes to score a series of head kicks. Was that pre planned too? I would like to watch full fught.

  • WORKED (fake) matches he's trying to pass off as shoots (real).

  • shootfaking.

  • He is a big tough guy that could've dont pretty well in MMA with years at a true camp like Jackson or AKA but most his fights are works. And his fights in reall MMA or K-1 matches he didn't look so good. Again i'm sure with his size and strength he could have been a decent heavyweight.

  • i think bart vale was just a few years ahead of his time. perhaps if he had been born 10 yrs later, he could have become a force in US mma. his age and "worked" fight experience seemed to work against him. Looks like a tough dude, would have loved to see him at 25 yrs old, training in BJJ or perhaps Hawaiian Kempo. Should be respected for his past, but not anywhere on par with the fighters of the last 10-15 yrs.

  • @stevekennyufc It's a work.

  • gsp`s breakfast
