"Muslimah" = "Muslim female"
In this short documentary film, a handful of Young Muslim Women take their time out to answer a some of the many questions posed to the average Muslim woman. We hope this will allow many non-muslim to see beyond the misconceptions, misunderstandings, or stereotypes about Islam.
Questions:
Part 1:
1) What is hijab?
2) Why do Muslim women wear the hijab?
3) How old are muslim females when they start wearing hijab?
Part 2:
4) When did you start wearing the hijab?
5) Do you think there are any misconceptions about hijab?
Part 3:
6) What are the usual and unusual questions you get about hijab?
7) Are Muslim females not allowed to say "no" to their husbands?
Part 4:
8) What do you think of how non-Muslim women dress? Do you think it's disrespectful and that they need to cover up?

  • Why are some Muslim women allowed to show some of their hair? I noticed Pakistani women do this. Most of their head is covered but some hair is exposed...

  • @Red2Black444. well proper hijab is every thing covered besides the face and hands. If there is a little hair showing, that's not proper. ;)

  • You should make this into a tag video!!!

  • @waoOoma. ooooh! that sounds like fun! what with the same Questions as these? or different ones?

were as you get a bunch of ( Young/Teens ) Muslimah's & do a short film about there life as being a Muslimah '

    -lol just an idea :)

  • @hijabedforAllah This is YOUR God and YOUR religious beliefs - not mine. When an artist paints a portrait, that painting is NOT a "graven image". To believe otherwise is to be just plain stupid. Do you REALLY believe that the portraits of the 17th century Great Dutch Masters are "graven images"? As the old saying goes, stupid is as stupid does.

  • @Tuxster3 As Muslims we do not make drawings of any humans...not just the Prophet. It is our belief that Allah will ask anyone who makes images to bring them to life on the day of judgement. Even the Bible states that thou shalt make no graven images. The same is true in Islam. It is not what ="man's law" says we can or cannot do...it is what Allah (GOD) says we can or cannot do.

  • As a non-Muslim, I've always wanted to ask, why is there a prohibition against "drawing" the Prophet Muhammad? As Americans, we live in a country where freedom of speech and expression is practiced and celebrated. I can understand if MUSLIMS are prohibited from drawing the Prophet, or risk a fatwah and being killed -- but ALL people are prohibited? This is silly. It makes no sense. In the U.S., we can draw, paint or burn whatever we want, and not be killed for it. What say you?

  • I've always been under the impression that Hijab may or may not have strong religious significance for a Muslim woman, depending on the culture, family, or the individual, some of my friends choose to wear and it's their choice, others feel more pressure from their parents, the important thing is I value the power of the individual to make that choice, if they wear it or not, they're true to their convictions =) God bless

  • Mashallah! You guys are so diverse in terms of ethnicity... And yall were all born in to the religion? What are the girls ethnicities if ya dont mind.

  • @Red2Black444

It's culture their following, not religion. They should learn about their religion and why they do what they do: Not because their parents did it.

Even if you find your having to go against your parents for Islam, you should- thats what the Followers of the parents did.

  • mashaallah!! I never thought about it that way !! but you right we men also are required to wear hijab of our own type.

  • ASW
