US voter Stupid? The world sees US democracy + apathy = ignorance

The Informed US voter is the keystone of democracy.

Interviewer neglected to ask questions concerning Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, or Michael Jackson.

Nothing about sports, fashion or the latest video games.

Really unfair. don't you think?

People this sharp could not be fooled by the powers that be about 911 could they?

Ok, I just asked my 18 year daughter the country that started with a U and she replied Uganda. I asked her the religion of Israel and she said Jewish. I said jewish was not a religion and she responded Judaism. She then asked me why I was asking her these stupid questions. I honestly believe they only showed or posted people here who proved their point and I would respond that there are ignorant people everywhere although we have our share in the US. We are more ignorant of foreign cultures etc.

There is no known metric to prove US citizens are more ignorant than people of other nationalities.

But I have had the privilege of travelling to Europe and South America, and Canada and Mexico, and my father was a naturalized citizen from Europe.

My experience is that in so many cases foreigners are much better informed whether they have university educations or not, compared to the average American.

And there is no denying the pure stupidity of the people in this video who are ignoramuses.

Making people aware that there is a real problem is the first step.

I think its the most important step, these people are ignorant, but they are not stupid.

When they realize their ignorance is a problem, then they will work on taking care of becoming better informed on their own, and others who can supply information will also respond to their interest in learning.

I dont think TV is the great enemy its video games at least on TV unless you have the crap finder engaged, you will get some info.

@leschwartz Because in this country we keep getting the idea shoved down our throats that America is the greatest country in the world, and that other places around the world is less important. Be "patriotic" and be all about JUST America. Don't learn other foreign languages, English is the world's language so there's no need. These ideas are HIGHLY prevalent in our country and it's almost looked at as a good thing, confusingly so, by a large portion of our population.

u@leschwartz Yes you are right! I have to blame it on TV. It's a lot easier to control the masses if they can't think for themselves. Then they can assume their elected officials have their best interests at heart and not worry about politics and things they feel they have no control over anyways. How about an IQ test to vote. Wait that goes against our constitution. However when the country was founded only white land owning males voted. That being said if you owned land you had a vested interest in what happened not only in the US but also in foreign countries.

Okay, they proved their point the average American is painfully ignorant. Shoot your TV and stop watching Different Strokes re-runs. This video totally explains why we are in the mess we're in. We've let the elite robber barons lead us by the nose and control the media with false information. So now that you have so brilliantly proven what the problem is....... What's the solution? It's too late to re-educate 150,000,000 people up to say an 8th grade level in most of the EU countries. Now what?
