It is always interesting to see new vintage wines coming on to the market and at times they can seem a little closed or tight as we say in the industry. It is important to remember that all wine goes on a journey, and even though, in the case of this wine, it is designed to be drunk in the first year of its life, there will be benefits from allowing the wine to open up, which basically means to become more expressive, this will occur over time. So if you are buying lots of new vintage Pinot Grigio, Riesling or Sauvignon Blanc, be aware that they will seem quite lean and even acidic, but this is to be expected, not alarmed by. Wine changes more quickly than you think, and even four weeks can make a difference if the wine has just been bottled. Most importantly, drink widely and enjoy it!
