There are numerous ways to decock a pistol, and I shall discuss and demonstrate a few of those ways here. However, gun safety is priority #1, and it's best to consult an expert when you have any questions about your firearm.

REMINDER: The method of "walking down" the hammer that I demonstrate here is VERY dangerous and should be done very carefully. I do not recommend it to anyone.

  • NEVER decock a loaded semiauto without a safety lever.

  • @metallical87 That works, but I believe that dry firing is not healthy for the firing pin. You could also walk the hammer down after you've cleared the weapon in the manner you stated above.

  • cant you just release magazine, slide back the rack to release the round in chamber, visual inspect then fire the gun unloaded, doesnt that in a way decock it?

  • @TheDaviniumXX I doubt it. My CZ75B was built to have the hammer decocked. The only way to carry my CZ75B in double action mode (hammer decocked) is by manually decocking the hammer on a live round as there is no decocker.

  • Great video. Thanks. Note on the Kimbers - they do not recommend manually lowering or walking the hammers down on their handguns…they recommend clearing the pistol and dry-firing.

  • Help, my pistol is on fire! [so i decocked it using my 2 thumb technique.!

    :)

  • Good video, friend!

  • drop the mag, rack the slide= safe gun

  • Beautiful 226 man. I have a P6.

  • Thank you very much, I have been searching the way of decocking a pistol for months. Especially the holding hammer with two fingers method.
