Chinle Valley Store song
By Josiah Clyde
When I was very young
I grew up on the navajo reservation
life was good, times were fun
playing with my cousins outside until the day was done
but we had our ups and our downs
on this small indian reservation town
I grew up with out dad around
but I had my grandma and my grandpa to keep me safe and sound
so far away from all the buildings and the smog
I had a clear night sky I listened to the ribbits of a thousand frogs
as the rain passed by on a summer night
you could hear voices in the night breeze
if you listen closely you will hear
all the answers whispering in the trees
oh how I wish I could go back in time
just to run through those sheets hanging out to dry
to play with my toys and ride my bike
to be free just one more time before I die
from the "gone for so long" EP on 320 Records 2007
