Very helpful presentation of the procedure. What I often do is hold onto the old electrolytics (and wax caps), hollow them out from the bottom, and install the new, smaller caps inside with hot glue, and run wires out. Brown or black colored hot glue works well for this. That way, the authentic look can be preserved underneath the chassis.

I have a Philco 41-280 that needs to be restored... What State are you in? And how much ( roughly) to restore. It works, but needs wax capacitors replaced etc...

interesting, will the FCC ban analog radios and x-mission?

Hi Rick! I found a Elecromatic radio. It is a small (10x6) 5 tube transformless radio. It doesn't have a model# anywhere but I looked on Nostalgia air and they have AR-301 (schematics only no tube layout)that is similar with mine. Do you know by any chance if Electromatic made more than 1 small radio model? One of the coils on the first IR Tr. is bad all caps and most resistors need to be replaced.2 of the tubes also. Do you think this radio is worth restoring? It it is pre 1948.Thank you.

When I find it again I'll make note of the manufacturer and get back to you. I think is was made in Mexico, but still a nice speaker.
