The 12" extended single mix (5:44) includes the same souped-up beachy atmosphere as the 7" single mix but also contains sax parts throughout various parts of the song (intro, bridge, etc.) and has a full sax solo heard after the 1st chorus.
On the alternate 7" single mix (4:22), the same sax hook heard on the 12" single mix replaces the bridge heard on the album (4:45) and the (3:58) 7" single mix.
Album version (4:45) begins with the sound of waves crashing on the beach, followed by a piano-only intro. JT sings the 1st verse w/o drums/percussion; these are not heard until the 1st chorus.
For the single and video mix (3:58), additional beach sounds are heard, including seagulls. Additional drumming is heard around the time JT sings the 1st verse. The chorus is only sung once here, rather than twice as with the album mix.
Such a great ballad!!! I will never forget the first time I heard this song......I was just a kid, we were on a vacation going to Washington State and I first heard this going through Chicago, and I can still see the whole entire city all lit up and I remember thinking this was the most beautiful song I had ever heard!!! Great memories of this song
