T 18:40 Spotnitz on the "Talking Cure"

Speech affects the mind and through the mind's physical structure -
the nervous system-the chemistry of the
body. It would probably take hundred's of years to compound the exquisitely precise chemical which each patient needs to get well and stay well. But his
body has its own chemical laboratory; and the psychotherapist, through his words and
attitudes, tries to stimulate it to produce
those chemicals. The personality can be
employed an infinite number of ways to
create different psychological effects
and control the dosages for each patient and situations. To advance
the science and art of producing psychological stimuli is the concern of
the research minded practioner.
Why is Hyman Spotnitz never mentioned in the psychoanalytic literature when his achievements were so outstanding? Spotnitz, the founder of modern psychoanalysis took classical analysis further with a special interest in those patients that Sigmund Freud considered incurable. In this show Paula Gloria reads a power point presentation with highlights from Spotnitz's books, "Modern Psychoanalysis and the Schizophrenic Patient" and statements Spotnitz, made about his work. Hyman Spotnitz was a practicing psychiatrist at the Jewish Board of Guardian in the '40's and '50's. Because his cure involved no medication, a big profit maker in today's health (non) care, he was persona non grata with Big Pharma that funds educational institutions. Rare jewels like the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies on 10th street need to be supported and is where Paula Gloria was lucky enough to spend time listening his 1979 lectures. He was the mentor of Dr. Jane G. Goldberg, a valued client of Paula's whose ground breaking work with Reality TV Group Therapy is putting his theory into practice and is starting to produce cures (much to the amazement of those understandably skeptical about the unconventional TV setting).
Highlights:
The goal of Modern
Psychoanalysis:

The patient who has
successfully undergone
modern psychoanalysis
emerges in a state of
emotional maturity, with
the fully symphony of
human emotions at his
disposal, and
abundantly equipped
with psychic energy, he
experiences the
pleasure of performing
at his full potential.

When this state as been
stabilized, modern
psychoanalysis has
achieved its ultimate
goal.

  • 9:00 "The present high incidence of mental illness suggests that such training is too difficult to be entrusted almost exclusively to parents"

    - Psychotherapy of Preoedipal Conditions, Spotnitz 1976

could this be the training hinted at in Plato's works?

  • 9:00 furthermore:

However this should not be confused with works like Dr. William Pepper's "The Self-managed Child; Pathways to cultural rebirth" whose suggestion for distance from parents is a thin veil for pedophilia or some of the almost cruel practices of separating children from their parents in the Kibbutz's in Israel. (My personal opinion)

  • Yes I know there are people (on Youtube)who use "personal unmotivated hate" to distract you.

Those people are "dissing" you or "trolling". It's street knowledge that i do not get 100% but it's growing ;-)

Maybe you have seen the word "troll" in a comment before on youtube. Now I know not to run after those distractors.

It's a hate-trap that will bring down your mood and energy.

I know you can handle it more than I can.

What i do now, is no response or "mirroring" their hate.

  • i'm pretty sure what happens with people is they tend to have to over conform in modern living, and they get too much competitive and negative behavior. They have to force themselve to believe stuff to just get along. Gamers find glory in a competitive environment, but everyone has problems with believing common stupid crap. For example: truth (and therefore god) is not the top of hierarchy, but the basis of logic and grounded instead of elevated. We always tend to believe the opposite.

  • i have a pretty strong aversion to authority, because it always presented as threatening or at least knowledgable in a believing- sided- hierarchal-lying-angry and threatening way. If you look carefully you can see that most folks have some very odd beliefs that leave them logically crippled. It is because they have to live their lives playing a game by contrived rules. It's bad for mental health to be civilized. It is hard to "think yourself free" of status and position.

  • The thing that humans have that other creatures don't actually have is the ability to make up "believe lies or die" group behavior. Insects know what to do in groups, but people; they just fight for status. Fighting and believing in reasons to fight is a "sided" or side taking social activity, and ppl cannot escape their weird gaming conceptual activities and behaviors. We are lucky if we do ok with that. It's certainly hard to hide from it. We have to be obstinate about holding onto truth.
