~PART 2~
This is a documentary work-in-progress, filmed, edited, and directed by Mariel Adams, one of the participants in the Amazon Expedition project. Filmed during a 14-day trip to Ecuador, it focuses on oil politics and indigenous survival in the Amazon. This shorter piece introduces the audience to a brief history of the colonization of the Amazon, and includes first person accounts of those effected by the oil drilling. It expands on the continued disregard for the environment and its inhabitants by including a visual tour of the current state of the oil fields within the jungle. The documentary touches on the effects of globalization, homogenization, and exploration, and it brings awareness to a very real and very current resource crisis.
