I agree and would add, while both musicians are very talented their styles are very different. Loomis is more of a soloist (guitar wise) and his songs are structured or based around his lead guitar style. While Ihsahn (I believe) is focused on the overall song content and structure such as vocals, guitar and lyrics, etc. In other words, when Loomis plays a guitar solo it REALLY stands out much the same way as Ihsahn's vocals do. They're both very good but very different. Wouldn't you agree?

Ihsahn isn't writing Black Metal stuff at the moment. All of his solo albums are experimental metal both in lyrical and musical content. Still very heavy and very awesome but not even close to Black Metal at all. I've been a huge fan since the 90's and while I love the Emperor days and wish they were still together, Ihsahn's solo stuff is amazing as well. Ihsahn's simply an amazing, gifted, talent and I'm sure whatever he does musically will be great as we've seen already. Take care.

I'm a huge fan of both Ihsahn and Loomis since the 90's and Jeff Loomis solo clearly starts at 5:25 and ends at 6:10. Hope this helps. Both playing styles are fantastic but very different. Obviously, the brilliance of all involved with this album made the two styles mesh seamlessly. Take for example Ihsahns work on the Loomis song "Surrender" which is absolutely mind blowing! I would love to hear more collaborations like this in the future, very cool indeed.

After Ihsahn came to our school i got to be such a major fan. When he showed us this song and explained the pulse of it i got blown away! So happy to have the LP of this album!
