This is my fiancee Li Si Ling playing with our pet robot "Chopsticks". Real pets are a bit of a luxury where I live. The homes are very small and a stray pet can end up in a restaurant in some parts of China.
Most children learn some responsibility by feeding their pets. Our children will learn to repair and re-program their pets.
The controller is an arduino compatible Spider controller from DAGU.
You can find instructions on how to make this robot on MAKE Projects:

A kit is now being developed. See the prototype here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjdS_t1yQuk
+1 for your robot, +100000 for Li Si Ling

@vieurou My wife is very happy to know I am not the only one who thinks she is 100,000 times better than a huge robot spider that freaks out and covers all 16 eyes everytime someone gets too close!

Hello very nicely done. Did you use CPG to generate the gait?

@epokh64 Nothing so complicated.
Currently there are no sensors on the legs other than the feedback pots in the servos.
I am currently working on new code for the legs to provide a more natural movement while preventing entanglement when changing speed and direction. Once that is working I will add sensors for feedback over rough terrain and edge detection.
