Benjamin Franklin debates that because the turkey is only found in North America it is fitting that the turkey be the national symbol not the eagle.
On the day before many sit down to eat turkey for Thanksgiving, the Minnesota History Center and the National Eagle Center will tell the little-known tale of how Benjamin Franklin pushed for the turkey, rather than the bald eagle, to become the national symbol.
Benjamin Franklin: In Search of a Better World opens at the History Center, Friday, Nov. 27, the day after Thanksgiving.
