EARTH WALK FROM SPIRIT NATION WITH SUNSETS AT OUR CABIN IN THE ARIZONA HIGH DESERT - RED SKY RANCH NEAR WITCH WELLS.

Spirit Nation combines ambient beats with Lakota Indian chants and lyrics. Though we may not understand the words, the content of the songs can be surmised from titles like "Spirit Path" and "Sacredness." Translated lyrics such as " I am walking the sacred path/I am walking the sacred Earth" show the celebration of Native American spirituality and values present on this album. Judy Crescenzo provides resonating, full lead vocals. Even on tracks like "Prayer to the Four Directions" which has layers of ethereal voices, the darker tones of her voice shine though. Lush keyboards, flutes and various ethnic instruments are set to programmed beats and live percussion to round out the songs. The combination works, except when the beat behind the song gets too modern. The track "I am Water" has a distracting dance floor beat you've already heard in too many songs. Aside from this one song, the pairing of modern technology and ancient instruments flows seamlessly with the beautiful vocals and melodies.
