Music... just playing with the drift of sound between analog synths and sequenced drums. Kind of cool... kind of irritating.

Simple test video... real time visual modulation controlled by internal routing of MIDI from Logic. Initially had some troubles with the IAC Bus freezing Logic with a -10011 error, but that was due to MIDI feedback, either turn off record enable on the 'control track' or tweak your Click & Port settings in the Environment to not accept input signal over IAC. Easy. Now just have to make something which isn't boring to watch AND listen to!!!

  • Hi , The way you control through Logic the QC is very interesting!

Can you give as any explanations how to do it?

I have searched all over the web for 2 months and haven't succeed in OUTPUTing MIDI from Logic.

What are the objects needed in Logic 's environment and how you can send to IAC the MIDI data?

I thought it should be simple but I have stuck , dude.

    Thnx in advance! :)

  • @GeorgeKer

It was a while since I did this ... but I think I had three apps running:

Logic > IAC > OSCulator > OSC > Quartz Composer ... MIDI had to be converted into OSC, as I don't think QC responded to the IAC very well.

  • @disuye

Actually, ignore that previous reply ... just watching the video again there is only Logic and QC running ... I must have used IAC MIDI and QC.

    1) Using AudioMIDI utility, make an IAC MIDI bus

    2) In Logic Environment, make a new instrument and assign it's output to the IAC bus

    3) duplicate one of your MIDI regions onto the new instrument track (in this video I copied my drums MIDI region)

    4) In QC, assign the IAC Bus as a source, and then route the note data to QC controls

  • Howd you create the quad structure? It can't be with the cube render object. Any advice?

  • @ThePurestData ... the cube is built by using three line patches, arranged using three 'Replicate in Space' environments to form a cube. Then all that is replicated again to form the pulsing shadows!

  • Nothing special, just a sneak preview of some new work. Trying to make music and interactive visuals at the same time; in the same process.
