Everything I've read about the Australian made Collins Class submarines says that they are noisy and unreliable POS. But here's one of them giving the US Navy a serious run for its money in a naval exercise.
This suggests either that: (a) the media reports are heavy with exaggeration and hyperbole, or (b) even a nominally functioning, second rate hunter-killer submarine is an extremely formidable weapon.
