Its weird when U think of it ~ sinners go into a box to confess their sins to a man dressed in a crows outfit, in the belief that this man can on behalf of God forgive their sins
Sins are forgiven by going straight to God like the Publican & the Pharisee in Luke 18:9 - 14
When Jesus sent out the 12 he gave them power to heal, power to cast out demons, power to preach the Gospel BUT NEVER the power to forgive sins
This was also the case when he sent out the 70 ~ only God can forgive SINS

How sad. This poor and miserable man is an enemy of his own salvation. What is even more pitiable is that he is leading so many others astray.

richard bennett is a liar who seeks to destroy the church. plain and simple, that's what he is. yes it is true that it is God who forgives sin, but did God not tell his disciples that- "whoever's sins you forgive are forgiven them."? richard never asks the church's explanation of it's sacrament's, he just gives his biased and perverted idea of what they mean. to get the truth about catholocism, go talk to an actual catholic priest.

Read john 3:5... that is a once and for all washing and cleansing by God the Holy Spirit, if you don't understand that, then please do not even try to instruct here or anywhere else on what salvation is or isn't.

SP: What you say gives me great comfort. To know that I have nothing to do with my own salvation. So I guess I can go out and murder and steal and rape and plunder and blaspheme against God and no matter what I do or don't do He will still take me to heaven. You have a strange view of God.

to sum it up: "Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory," Rom 9:21-23

more...18Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?" 18-20

It is not for us to know. Ours is to preach the Gospel. Those who have been regenerated (born again) will respond in time and according to God's plan. Only the Lord can judge a man's heart. "For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy." Romans 9:15-16

If I read your comments correctly you believe that we are predestined to salvation. Of course not everyone goes to heaven, so those that will and those that wont really have nothing to say in the matter. By accepting Jesus, or doing good, or praying everyday, those predestined for hell will still go to hell. So how can one know which group he belongs to?

and..."For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified."Romans 8:29-30
The confessional is not meant to change us. It is a sacramental means of asking God for forgiveness. Certainly grace is imparted as well, but grace does not guarantee change. Similarly Protestants believe that "Accepting Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior" will cause you to change as the Holy Spirit will now guide you forever. Yet experience shows us that all people who have been "saved" in this way continue to struggle with immoral behavior. That is because we are all human.

At the moment of Biblical salvation an instantaneous change occurres according to 2Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. This is a one time event according to 1Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 1Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
