Baby's Broken Nail

Broken toenails are common in dogs. They get long and break by getting caught on rugs, couches, or when running. Keep nails short to prevent this problem. If a torn nail occurs, check to see if pieces of toenail partially remain,or if swelling or drainage. Nailbed infections, broken toes, wounds, or even tumors may accompany a broken toe.

This just happen to me today, i cant believe it. I had a friend cut half of the nail off. Should I cut the remainder of the nail off? Im so worried.

@suziq820 You can cut the remainder if it is sticking out. Is in cracked down to the skin? Remove any sharp points and watch for redness and swelling at the skin. Most just do fine

this happend to my dog as well in was real bad we coud not bring him ton a vet but he fell off the curb when i was walking him i pickeed him up to say sorry but them y brother said ZIEDOE IS BLEEDING! so i puck him up than ran home my dad tried to take care of it but ziedoe just stayed in his bed until my mom came home. ziedoe dose not like my dad verey mutch but he was so calm with my mom. what my mom did was clipped the broken claw off than bandaged it and i mean she bandaged it GOOD.
