I'm sure the basic 12a block is lighter than an LS1 long block, but when u add the cast iron water pump, exhaust manifold, smog equipment, vacuum hose harness, & weldment that holds the a/c compressor, I'd be shocked if there is much difference.
Also, some very respectable cars don't have 50/50 STATIC weight distribution (Porsche 911, Ferrari F355). Handling is about suspension tuning & the driver's ability to manage the DYNAMIC balance of the car with brakes and throttle etc.

a 3rd gen? are you a dumbass....its a 1st gen FB.

40 pounds isnt much dude lol....the better reason for the LS1 is it keeps the rx7's original 50/50 weight distribution.
If you want lightweight do a ls1 fb rx7.

me likey! I used to have an 82 was gonna do my swap in that but the rear quarters were too badly rusted so I found a 86 with a blown rotary for my swap.
-
Horsepower.
-
lmao
-
And the engine is probably like the rotary and mounted behind the front axle, or close to it. Giving it pretty even weight distribution.
-
Uhh? Are you retarded? That was a 1st gen. Which is cooler than a 3rd gen.
-
But sometimes, they just work.. And, i'd pick a Rotary over some POS piston any day.
-
lol
-
rotarys are way better in RX-7s then V8s

1983 uses a v8??
I still want to get a 3rd gen twin turbo and swap in a LS1, guys end up being 25-40 lbs lighter than the TT 13b.

Did my car come with a lemans rotary engine? No it came with gutless hopeless 12a, I don't care about how good a million dollar car's rotary is. You guys are talking about 13b's, 20b's 26's, well if I wanted one of those I'd still have to do a swap. Seeing how I had this engine in my shop already it kinda makes sence that I put it in. I'm not denying the fact that there are some decent rotary's out there but an rx7 never came with one.

you do that, it better be a 12a not a 13b. Make it fair and have the same amount of accessories on them too.

12a's are all cast Iron, 13b's are aluminum and cast iron. 12a's are wicked heavy. Valves to warp??? Yeah cause that happens alot?!?!?! Rotorys have eccentric shafts and they can break. I have had both engine, obviously you haven't, 12a's are a boat anchor.

Its the fact you can buy one of these things for $400 with a blown motor and decent paint, throw a cheap used V8 in it, throw a few speed goodies on it and run 11's without to much hassle is why its cool. To me this thing is just a toy. Who would want one of these things if they weren't really quick. Not like they are the nicest car on the road. i just needed a light shell to throw my powertrain in. I want to do a 300zx next. Or possibly a miata

Yeah I'm not building a racecar, its going to be a mean street car. It doesn't have to handle like and f1 car, if it did I would have used a all aluminum ls1, which would have been lighter than the 12A. Why is it that both you guys don't have any vidoes? you probably don't have any cars, esspecially with a half ass rotarys either.
